Matt Wyble grew up in Severna Park, Maryland. Twenty minutes away until 1st grade and 40 minutes away through high school, Ashleigh Crane grew up in Arden on the Severn and Lothian/Tracy's Landing, MD. Little did they know, there were many connections between the familes and friends that they would find out 18 years later.

Matt and Ashleigh met the first day they were moved into the dorms in college. The fall of 2003 Ashleigh and a friend from her lacrosse team moved into a dorm room together at Virginia Tech. Over the summer, her roomate Virginia had mentioned her mom's tennis friend had a son going to VT in the fall as well, enter Matt.

They exchanged e-mails and Virginia and Ashleigh decided to go meet Matt the day after they got settled. That day they met Matt, his roommate and the boys in the surrounding rooms. Matt and Ashleigh ended up being in a few classes together that first semester and had lunch every day. Over the next few weeks, the two became best friends. In October, Matt confessed his feelings and the two decided to give it a try, promising that if it didn't work out, that their friendship would not suffer....que wedding page 5 years later...


When Matt left for school he told his MeMe that he was going to find a Southern girl....after Ashleigh and Matt started dating he called MeMe to tell her the good news. She was so excited, "Is she from the carolinas? Georgia? Where?" His Response, Southern High School...

Matt and Ashleigh went through all four years of college and a lot of ups and downs, but their relationship was strong enough to make it through some tough experiences including the tragedy of April 16th. They shared many of the same interests including Tech sports, especially football, camping, the Dave Matthews Band, and hanging out with the same friends.

In September of 2007, the Dave Matthews Band put on a free concert with Phil Vassar, Nas and John Mayer, at the Stadium on the VT campus. Ashleigh had to skip grad school classes, but there was no way they were going to miss this opportunity to see their FAVORITE band with their favorite hokies.

The day before the concert Matt and Ashleigh headed to Tyson's corner mall for a meeting Matt had before heading down to Blacksburg. Once there, they got their tickets to the concert and Ashleigh headed to the ticket swap to get the same section as friends. An hour and a half later, tickets were swapped and we were ready to go. Matt suggested going to the duckpong to walk around since it was the first time back at school since graduation. After a little resistance due to Ashleigh's headache and fear of making people wait on her, they headed to their favorite picnic spot where Ashleigh started to get sad about not being at school anymore. As they turned to leave, Matt dropped to one knee and asked Ashleigh to marry him. Of course he knew the answer was yes, but I think her first response was "I hate you." Not because she was mad, but because he actually got away with surprising her, she had NO idea. Then the stories came out about how he got away with it, with the help of Ashleigh's friend Laura and her mom and brother, and his family.

At the celebration dinner, their friend Justin told them that before the concert, they would meet the Dave Matthews Band. And the did. and it was awesome.

Since Ashleigh had just started a two year graduate school program in Baltimore, it was decided that the wedding would be planned after she graduates. The wedding has been set for May 30, 2009 in Severna Park, MD. Two weeks before, Ashleigh will finish her Master's degree in Applied Psychology: Industrial/Organizational Psychology and hopes to find a job in human resources or employee relations after the wedding.

The Reception will be held off site. Limited parking is available at the site, transportation will be provided to and from the reception. Exceptions can be made for handicapped, more details to come.
